WATCH: Around the world in one breath - A stunning short film on diving
Imagine taking one deep breath, plunging into the ocean and travelling the world
Imagine taking one deep breath, plunging into the deep blue sea and travelling across the world. Film-maker Guillaume Néry's One Breath Around The World, first released in 2019, plays out this fantasy in our heads. With seamless edits across oceans and seas across the world, the director and his team had made a short film that should ideally be locked up in place in a fine arts museum as a work of art.
But we are happy it is on YouTube and free for all of us to consume.
Watch the video here:
From ocean caves riddled with stalactites and stalagmites to oceansacpes ruled by sharks and giant whales, the video is an amalgamation of fine art film making and clever storytelling. Across the world, videos aren't new however with plenty of videos of people recording their journey through fast cuts and clever time-lapses. But Nery has brought quality film-making to the genre of YouTube videos and it isn't entirely surprising that the video has amassed more than 21 million views.
