The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Set in the 1950s New York City, the show is centred around Miriam Maisel, whose perfect life is upended by her husband leaving her for his secretary. What follows is Miriam’s revelation of her talent as a comic. Miriam sets on to build a career as a female comedian in an era when women weren’t exactly thought of as capable enough to crack up an audience. The excellent performance by the cast and quick-witted dialogues make up for a brilliant watch with rarely a dull moment. Created by Sherman-Palladino, the show has 3 seasons and 26 episodes.
Patriot
It is a complicated story about intelligence officer John Tavner who goes undercover as an engineer for a pipe company to prevent Iran from going nuclear. The difficulties that build up along the way is what makes it an interesting watch. It is a dark comedy that leaves a mark on its audience but might not be everyone’s cup of tea. The show was cancelled after its second season and has a total of 18 episodes.
Fleabag
“Fleabag” is described as a comedy, but it is more than sharp puns. A story about a young woman navigating modern life in London with no filter while trying to come to terms with a recent tragedy. The show is hysterical, dirty, and a surprisingly thoughtful depiction of grief and loneliness, which manages to make you laugh all along. It is based on Waller-Bridge's 2013 one-woman play of the same name and stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the lead. Comprising of only two seasons with 6 episodes each, “Fleabag” leaves you wanting for more.
Jack Ryan
John Krasinski’s is back to television, but it’s nothing like his “The Office” days. In the series, he plays famed CIA analyst Jack Ryan who is pulled from his safe desk job after he stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers. His search thrusts him into a dangerous field assignment, leading him to run throughout Europe and the Middle East, which gets scary with every ticking second. The series is created by Tom Clancy and comprises two seasons, with eight episodes each.
Bosch
This one is the story of Harry Bosch, who is an irreverent homicide detective in Los Angeles with a healthy respect for rules and a strong thirst for truth. With every season and a new case in his hand, Harry’s moulded view about the world is shaken. His pursuit of justice is followed by twisted storylines leading him to uncover conspiracies, corrupt cops, and even his own mother’s murderer. The intriguing drama makes for an intense yet fun watch that is surely worthy of being on your watch list. The show has six seasons, comprising of ten episodes each, so far.
