Rajiv Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor's brother, dies
Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor passed away at 58. He is said to have suffered a heart attack, following which he was rushed to the hospital.
Bollywood actor and member of the legendary Kapoor family, Rajiv Kapoor, passed away on Tuesday. The actor was 58. Reports state that Rajiv suffered a massive heart attack which resulted in his death.
According to a report by The Times Of India, the actor was immediately taken to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The news was confirmed by Rajiv's brother Randhir Kapoor. He said, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him."
Rajiv Kapoor was the son of the legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor. Actor and Rajiv's sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor also took to social media to share the news. Neetu Singh was married to the late Rishi Kapoor, who is Rajiv's brother. Rishi Kapoor passed away last year.
Rajiv made his film debut in 1983 with Ek Jaan Hain Hum. He was seen as the lead in father Raj Kapoor's last directorial venture Ram Teri Ganga Maili in 1985. Post-1990, Rajiv pivoted towards producing and directing films. According to the Indian Express, the actor was set to make a comeback after 28 years with Ashutosh Gowariker’s Toolsidas Junior. The film was announced in December 2020 with Sanjay Dutt in the lead role.
