When football teams have fun: Best of LaLiga on social media
Here are some of the top social media moments from the past week of Spanish LaLiga
With a Copa del Rey draw, a full weekend of LaLiga Santander action, a busy few days of transfer business and much more, this was a big week for many Spanish clubs and, as always, they’ve been keeping fans up to date on social media. Here, then, is a look at some of the week’s best social media moments.
Having fun with the Copa del Rey draw
The draw for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey was held on Friday and some of the teams still involved in the competition had some fun in the build-up to the draw. Athletic Club and Real Betis both created gifs for their followers to perform their own mock draw. Incidentally, these two clubs ended up being paired with each other in the real thing.
Providing useful advice
The city of Granada was hit by a series of minor earthquakes this week, with the city shaking again and again. As one of the region’s most-followed accounts, Granada CF shared some advice from their main account to help residents stay safe. RC Celta Vigo, who played Granada CF over the weekend, also sent a message of support to their upcoming opponent.

In the past week, the centre-back has shared videos of himself working on the pitch and in the gym as he builds up his strength and sharpness once again.
Sharing the story of a Spanish football legend
Kiko Narváez is a legend of Spanish football, having scored the winning goal when Spain won gold at the 1992 Olympics and having enjoyed an impressive club career with Cádiz CF and Atlético Madrid. With these two teams facing off this weekend, Cádiz CF decided to share Kiko’s story with a Twitter thread from their English language account, bringing this tale to their fans from around the world.
